Don't Play With My Emotions!
The country is experiencing a financial disaster! We all know that President Obama has had to spend much of his time focusing on a way to move America out of this recession.
Although I work for Los Angeles Unified School District, I know that this financial crises is adversely effecting school districts all over the country.
What do we say to parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, classified and all of the workers who directly or indirectly impact the lives of our students? Oops, my bad! We don't have any money?
Don't play with my emotions!
The budget deficit in our school districts has forced personnel into an unstable, teeter-totter type of holding pattern with very little knowledge about whether they will have a job or not for the upcoming school year.
Class sizes are threatening to be extremely high and our young, bright and energetic teachers are being transferred or terminated. Sadly, the stablity of a school staff is slipping away like quicksand!
The tragedy of this entire scenario is that schools that are most in need are the schools that will be the hardest hit with teacher layoffs and increased class sizes.
It's not just the "not knowing" that stirs up the emotions of those impacted. Lack of employment prevents people from taking care of their families, leading a productive life and planning for the future of their loved ones.
People deserve to know the fate of their future. It is an unjust emotional rollercoaster and we are all ready for the "ride" to come to an end!
Stay strong and be encouraged!
