Your Actions Count More
I was watching the news which featured a teacher in New Mexico who
locked her disruptive student in a cage in the industrial building
adjacent to her classroom. She took the entire class to the cage
to witness the student being "punished" and at least one of the
other students videotaped the incident on his/her cell phone.
Trust me when I tell you...Your actions count more..than anything
a student can ever do in your classroom. Once you overstep your
level of professionalism, the issue becomes more about the teacher
than the behavior of the student.
Really, why risk your credential, salary, reputation and/or years of
hard work you put into becoming a teacher? Whatever that student
has done in your classroom is not worth losing what you have worked
so hard to attain!
The next time a student is acting out in your classroom...very
calmly go to the telephone and call the main office...go to your
desk, write a note and send a reliable student to get administrative
help or security...but don't ever take extreme measures into your
own hands. It's not worth it!
You will soon discover that Your Actions Count More!
