Friend or Foe?
Recently, a well respected high school English teacher in a southern California school district was placed on administrative leave because her supervisors believed that she posted inappropriate statements on her Facebook page. The students all rallied to her defense and news reporters interviewed them bestowing her outstanding abilities as an advanced placement teacher. They absolutely did not see anything wrong with her comments.
Well, just as "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - "words are open to interpretation by the reader".
It is true that technology is a great way to communicate to a larger audience. You can share the lessons, assignments, exams and upcoming events in your classroom/school. Facebook, blogs, Twitter, skype...they are all effective in sharing your thoughts...insights and wisdom...
...but...be very careful of what you say and how you say it...
