Age is Important
I was backing out of a driveway at the same time that a a woman and two children were getting out of their car. The next thing I heard was, "Ms. Moultrie, my English teacher". I looked up and there stood a former student who attended Crenshaw High School.
I saw two beautiful children smiling back at me and she introduced them-a son and a daughter.
The daughter stepped closer to the car and said with the most angelic voice: "Hi. I am 4 years old and my brother is 10 years old.
It struck me that children are generally able at a very young age to tell others how old they are...even if they cannot say it in words, they are able to hold up fingers to indicate their age.
If age is important to children...then it should be important to educators.
If you want to be a teacher...make sure to choose the age range that you can be most effective.
If you are already a teacher...make sure that you are educating students at an age range that you are most effective.
Not everyone can teach kindergarteners...
Not everyone can teach middle schoolers...
Not everyone can teach teenagers...
Age is important!
