Baby Stroller Learning
I remember all of the dogs I had as a child and an adult. They
could not wait to go for a walk.
As soon as they even heard me
pick up the leash, there would be a panting tongue, wagging tail
and yelp of excitement!
It was comical to watch me walking my dogs, even the smallest one
seemed to be walking me.
It is not my intent to offend anyone, but I find it quite odd
to see owners pushing their dog in baby strollers. Some
actually created for dogs and some are actual baby strollers.
The same would be true for teachers who ask questions in class
and answer the questions as well.
The teachers who only require one or two word responses to
a question.
The teachers who provide the answers before students have had
an opportunity to grapple with the question.
We do students a grave disservice when we "coddle" them in an
academic setting. We must provide opportunities for rigor,
engagement, critical thinking and discourse to really get them
college or workforce ready.
We cannot afford to have a baby stroller approach to learning!
