Eyes on the Prize
Last week, I graduated....once again....this time with my doctorate in Christian Counseling.
I love going to school...I love learning...
I think every educator should be in love with learning, not just teaching, and each person continues to seek ways (workshops, conferences, internet) to improve his/her practice.
The same holds true of counselors, psychologists, nurses, clerical, social workers and parents. We are never too old to learn "better ways" to serve our children.
If we set a good example of a continuous learner to our students, they will take more seriously the importance of keeping their eyes on the prize and completing their education. They will limit distractions or negative/non-productive situations or people and connect themselves with positive, productive and intentional people.
Likewise, in whatever capacity you hold as it relates to children, I would like to encourage everyone to remind students to keep their "Eyes on the Prize".
Part of that prize is doing well in school and extracurricular activities; maintaining good grades, scoring high on standardized tests (SAT, CAHSEE, ACT), building strong relationships with school staff and classmates and making sure they remain focused and unwavering in their future goals and aspirations!
Let's be the Village to assist our students!
