Is an adult's career or a child's education dispensable?
It is incredible that school districts and, ultimately, schools have experienced major financial cuts! These cuts generally effect children and their families who are most dependent on public education. It also devastates educators who have committed to securing the necessary education, credential and licensing to become educators. This does not just impact classroom teachers, but administrators, librarians, psychologists, nurses, clerical, custodial staff and so much more! They have also committed to their education, credential and licensing requirements. Class sizes have swollen to 40-43 students, there are fewer administrators, security, nurses, social workers, psychologists and other support staff on each campus. Why don't we add insult to injury? The students are tested at the end of the year and placed in enrichment or remedial classes, advanced placement or intervention classes and run the risk of not being able to pass the California High School Exit exam. 4 years in high school with no diploma at the end of that journey....This is unacceptable...NOTHING about education is dispensable...absolutely nothing!
