American Idol-Lesson Learned
American Idol is a very popular television program. Most viewers love watching Ryan Seacrest, the feuding between Nicki Menaj and Mariah Carey, and the host of talent of the contestants. They also enjoy watching the host of people who cannot sing at all, who stepped to the platform in front of the judges after hours of waiting, only to be told "NO"!!!!!!
What is most interesting to me and the reason why I watch this program each week is because of the people who have or currently press their way through setbacks, challenges, and/or adversities to strive toward their goals. I've seen people who have serious health issues, lost their homes, dealt with tragedies...but they still persevered.
As professionals who work with people from all walks of life and varying ages, races, languages etc., I would encourage you all to find the talents, skills, and attributes of each individual you encounter. The world looks at the shortcomings of an individual....WE should be looking for the assets that each Learner brings to the table...what they CAN DO...not what they can't do...
Lesson Learned...
Be an encourager! There's an American Idol in your work day....You may be the very person to unlock the realization in a student's heart and mind of the possibilities the world holds for their successful future!!!!!
